Preci-Health SA’s revolutionary blood collection device, ezdrawTM, has reached new heights—literally. On September 10, 2024, ezdrawTM took flight aboard the Polaris Dawn mission, marking a significant milestone in space medicine research.

Launched by SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, Polaris Dawn is pioneering advancements in commercial spaceflight health monitoring. In collaboration with the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI), Dr. Guy Trudel, Preci-Health contributed to critical blood collection experiments conducted on all four crew members. ezdrawTM is engineered to work using high vaccum tubes and therefore can be activated in low or no gravity environment.

Using ezdrawTM, the Polaris Dawn crew provided vital blood samples to advance our understanding of human health in microgravity environments. Dr Trudel’s Anemia protocol was only the second trial ever to analyze fresh blood from space and it was a historical first that specialized techniques such as flow cytometry and viscometry was used on fresh blood from space.

Preci-Health, a Swiss-based medtech and AI innovator, is redefining the 80 billion in vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry with ezdrawTM—an advanced blood sampling solution that eliminates the need for trained phlebotomists. Designed for both at-clinic and at-home use, ezdrawTM offers unparalleled convenience and precision, making it a game-changer in remote healthcare.
